Google axes Video and Igoogle

The Inquirer reports Google has shut down several of its services including Igoogle, the personalised home display, and Google Video.
Five products are going, and for some the end seems obvious. Google Video, which Google runs alongside Youtube, stopped taking uploads in May 2009 and from today users have around two months to migrate their content away. More information on that change is available on the Youtube blog.

The Google Mini is also going, having been replaced by other products like Site Search and Google Talk Chatback, because it's "now outdated", Eichner said. "Users of that are encouraged to use the Meebo bar. while Symbian Search App users should just start using www.google.com as their homepage.

It is perhaps Igoogle that will be most sorely missed though. It launched in 2005 and has for seven years been many a person's homepage. If you use it now start treasuring your time together, because on 1 November 2013 it will be retired.
