Tablet prices are dropping in the US with Samsung's 7-inch Galaxy Tab now priced at US$219 from US$399 in various stores such as Wal-Mart and Best Buy along with white-brand tablets that are on sale for as low as US$59.

Sources said that with new 7- and 10-inch tablets soon to be on the market tablet makers and retail stores are trying to outprice one another, creating an apparent price battle as ultra-mobile devices are gaining mass popularity.

Other 7-inch tablets made by Samsung that run Android 4.0 have also dropped in price to US$249 with Google Nexus 7 having a price tag as low as US$199. Retail stores are also reportedly holding more sales events to push tablet sales but there is yet to be details of what the prices will be.
