CPU World delivers word that AMD is preparing three Athlon II X4 processors with a Socket FM2; the Athlon II X4 730, 740 and 750K.
We don't have full details of new Athlon IIs, and we only know a few of their basic features. Athlon II X4 730 and 740 are 65 Watt processors, operating at 2.8 GHz and 3.2 GHz respectively. Athlon II 750K will be clocked at 3.4 GHz, and it may have unlocked clock multiplier. The 750K will have 100 Watt TDP. All three models will be based on "Piledriver" microarchitecture, and have 4 CPU cores and 4 MB L2 cache. We suspect that, like Athlon IIs with "Llano" core, "Piledriver" Athlons will also have on-chip GPU disabled. It's very likely that the Athlon II X4s will support Turbo Core feature, although at this time we don't have information on Turbo Core frequencies. We also don't know when the new products will be released, and whether they will be offered as retails SKUs or not.
Specifications:
  • Athlon II X4 730: 2.8GHz, quad-core, 4MB L2, 65W TDP

  • Athlon II X4 740: 3.2GHz, quad-core, 4MB L2, 65W TDP

  • Athlon II X4 750K: 3.4GHz, quad-core, 4MB L2, 100W TDP
