While Windows XP didn't receive the update to Internet Explorer 9 because it was on extended support and Windows Vista won't receive IE10 because it's now on extended support, Windows 7 remains in mainstream support until January 13th, 2015 so it would be weird if the OS didn't get an major feature update like IE10.
Still it's odd that the last Internet Explorer 10 Platform Preview for Windows 7 dates from June 2011, since then the third and fourth previews were Windows 8 exclusives. With the release of Internet Explorer 9.0.9 last week, Neowin noticed Microsoft remains tight-lipped about it, the software giant makes no mention of an IE10 update for Windows 7 and people who asked about it in the comments didn't receive answers:
On Wednesday Microsoft released an update to IE (version 9.0.9) via Windows Update and blogged about it; nothing in the post talked about IE10 and if the same issues also affected it in the Release Preview or RTM, the latter being made available to MSDN and TechNet users on the same day.
People who asked when IE10 would be made available for Windows 7 in the comments went unanswered.
Microsoft also recently posted up a new KB article on the availability of IE10 which states:
Note: Internet Explorer 10 is included in Windows 8. It is not available for Windows 7 or earlier versions
