Foxconn raises wages at Zhengzhou factory

Word is going around that Foxconn has increased the paycheck of its employees at the company's production plant in Zhengzhou, northern China. This manufacturing base is mainly dedicated to Apple iPad and iPhone production, there are over 150,000 employees and the number is anticipated to increase to 200,000 by the end of the year.

New workers at the Zhengzhou plant will now receive a wage of 1,800 yuan ($283) per month, and 2,000 yuan ($315) after finishing a three month probation period. Additionally, they will also receive a 200 yuan ($31) incentive during peak periods like August - November.

Including extra payments for night shifts and overtime, a Foxconn production line worker can earn up to 3410 yuan ($537) a month.
The upward adjustment applies to production line workers and management personnel, the source indicated. For newly recruited workers in particular, the upward adjustment consists of a reduced probation period from six months to three months, an increase in starting monthly wage from CNY1,550 (US$244) to CNY1,800 during probation, and CNY2,000 upon finishing probation, and an extra payment of CNY200 a month as an incentive during peak periods such as from August to November, the report said.

A worker after finishing probation can earn as much as CNY3,410, including extra payments for night shifts and overtime payments, the report indicated.
