Antec has updated its Lifestyle series of cases with the launch of Sonata II, its premier enclosure for silent computing applications.

Sonata II combines the classic style and silent performance of the original Sonata quiet computing case with upgraded features and an innovative cooling design for handling the latest and fastest technologies. The popular piano-black case is equipped with Antec’s unique advanced chassis air duct for increased cooling of the latest CPUs and graphics cards. The air duct is rear-vented to help improve silence, and can be adjusted in three directions to ensure that the opening is always directly positioned above the CPU for maximum cooling.

Sonata II also features a single rear 120mm TriCool fan with an adjustable three-speed switch, as well as 120mm, 92mm and 80mm fan mounts, providing highly configurable cooling and air flow options.

Sonata II comes equipped with Antec’s low-noise, ATX12V v2.01-compliant, SmartPower 2.0 450W power supply. The power supply’s dual fan design uses two flow-through 80mm fans for intake and exhaust, providing virtually silent operation. Other features include nine drive bays with rubber grommets to absorb hard drive vibrations, as well as a double hinge door that opens to 270 degrees for easy installation. The case also has a built-in washable air filter and convenient front-mounted USB 2.0, audio, IEEE 1394 and FireWire ports.

Sonata II is available for an estimated street price of $129.
