We almost missed it, but Microsoft also updated Windows 8 on Friday to protect Internet Explorer 10 users against a dangerous flaw in Adobe's Flash plug-in. The latest version of Internet Explorer has an embedded version of Flash, which can't be updated by the user.
Microsoft
came under fire earlier this month because it neglected to patch a vulnerability that was patched by Adobe on August 21.
Microsoft's excuse is that Windows 8 isn't available yet to the general public, but being a month late to patch a dangerous security vulnerability doesn't fill us with confidence.
