DigiTimes heard from Taiwanese notebook supply chain makers that tablet vendors feel threatened that Microsoft's Surface RT tablet will impact sales of Windows 8 tablets.
Although pre-orders sold out in less than two days, since Microsoft only released a limited number for pre-order, it is still difficult to judge the market's response to the device. However, based on market watchers' feedback about the devices, Windows RT and Windows 8 will have a chance to become the third force in the tablet battlefield, the sources noted.

Sources from notebook players also pointed out that through their negotiations with Microsoft during the past few months, they can see that the software designer is firm about establishing its own hardware business and will no longer be concerned about its downstream partners' thoughts or complaints.
