Huawei shows off massive 6.1-inch Ascend Mate smartphone

Posted on Monday, December 24 2012 @ 12:37:02 CET by

Huawei is preparing to launch the Ascend Mate, a massive 6.1" Android smartphone set to take on the Samsung Galaxy note II, which has a 5.5" screen. Neowin writes Huawei executive Richard Yu showed off the device to shoppers at the Huawei store in Guangzhou.
You can see the smartphone in action in the video below, as it runs Titanic on the display (we hope that's not a sign that the Ascend Mate will hit a sales iceberg). The display can handle 1080p resolution video and is rumored to have a speedy 1.8GHz quad-core processor inside. It's also supposed to have a powerful 4,000mAh battery to keep that big display running.
