Half a year ago ASRock was still confident of hitting its 2012 motherboard shipment target of 9 million units, but today DigiTimes reports actual shipments were only 7.5 million units, down from 8 million units in 2011.

For 2013, ASRock expects to see flat performance in its motherboard business unit. Reasons for the poor performance likely include the economic crisis, poor demand for PCs, high competition, and an increasing shift towards mobile devices.
