LaCie announced it will release the 5big NAS Pro later this quarter, it's a 5-bay NAS powered by a dual-core 64-bit Intel Atom 2.13GHz processor and 4GB DDR3 memory. Pricing will start at $549 for a model without disks, but it will also be sold with 10TB and 20TB of storage capacity preinstalled.
Today LaCie announced the 5big NAS Pro, its latest high-performance 5-bay network-attached storage solution powered by Intel®. Thanks to hybrid cloud technology, the LaCie 5big NAS Pro lets employees collaborate easily using a single interface for both network/cloud storage and remote access. Furthermore, the intuitive browser-based LaCie Rescue utility allows the administrator to install the OS on a diskless chassis or easily recover from a system failure using the included USB key.
Data stored on Wuala is protected by industry-best security. Files are encrypted before they are sent to the cloud so no one, not even a LaCie employee, could access them. While competing cloud storage services could read files due to employee wrongdoing or court order, files stored on Wuala are solely accessible by the user or administrator.
