Prolimatech will soon reveal the Megahalems Basic, a new line of more affordable processor coolers.
The most advanced model in this lineup is the Megahalems Basic-81, this model has the same dimensions as the regular model but a more simplified design. The Chinese to English translation is a bit hard to decipher, but it appears that one of the differences is that the heatpipes aren't soldered to the fins in the Basic version. Other than that, you get a mirror-like copper base, six copper heatpipe, and a fin array with 81 aluminium fins. In China the cooler costs 199 yuan, which works out to around $32.
The second model in the budget Megahalems lineup is the Basic-45, this model has four 6mm heatpipes and 45 aluminium fins. It reportedly comes without a fan but costs as little as 88 yuan ($14).
Prolimatech is also working on the Megahalems Basic-48, a model with 48 aluminium fins and three nickel-plated heatpipes, as well as the Basic-65, which will be shown at a later date.
