Intel to launch mainstream dual-core 945PL chipset

Intel is expected to start shipping the mainstream 945PL chipset in September. for entry-level dual-core Pentium D systems. The chipset will support 533MHz and 800MHz FSB, dual-channel 533MHz DDR2 and 400MHz DDR memory. Contrary to most of Intel's low-end chipsets this one will not feature an integrated graphics solution.

By the end of this month Intel will start sampling the 945GZ which will be launched by the end of this year or early 2006. The 945GZ will feature Intel's GMA 950 graphics engine and will offers support 533MHz and 800MHz FSB, 533MHz DDR2 and 400MHz DDR memory. It will target cheap dual-core Celeron D based systems.
