writes NVIDIA has hired Deepu Talla, a former Texas Instruments executive who used to lead the OMAP SoC business unit, to head the NVIDIA Tegra business unit.
The Santa Clara, California-based multimedia chip designer said that Deepu Talla will head the Nvidia Tegra business unit. He succeeds Phil Carmack, who after 10 years building Tegra from scratch to a three-quarters of a billion dollar business, is leaving Nvidia to become chief executive of one of Nvidia partner companies. Previously, Stan Boland, the founder of Icera, a company acquired by Nvidia in 2011, left the company for Neul, a startup developing products and services to realise the industrial Internet.
Prior to joining Nvidia earlier this year as vice president of Tegra business development, Deepu Talla spent more than 10 years at Texas Instruments, most recently as general manager of its OMAP mobile computing business. As Texas Instruments started to refocus its OMAP business to embedded applications, chances are that Mr. Talla will help Nvidia to capture the markets that TI is leaving.
