Microsoft issued a preview of Windows Server 2012 R2 on MSDN, this new build shows off the new Start Button that will become part of the Windows 8.1 update. The new Start button looks just like the Start button in the Charms menu, and when you right click it you'll see that Microsoft brought back the ability to shut down the machine via the Start button.
Additionally, the OS also has some new Start screen features, including the ability to boot directly to desktop.
More news about Windows 8.1 is expected later this week as Microsoft will present the Windows 8.1 client preview at tomorrow's Build conference in San Francisco.
