While motherboard makers are claiming the demand for Intel's dual-core processors is low, Intel itself is rather optimistic. The company claims it will be able to ship a million dual-core CPUs this year and says it has already shipped hundreds of thousands of its Pentium D and Pentium EE processors.
“We have good market acceptance with this platform, meeting our goal of shipping several hundred thousand dual-core processors in the second quarter,” stated Intel’s chief executive Paul Otellini during the most-recent conference call.
