Tablet makers to go 8-inch to differentiate themselves?

DigiTimes reports we'll soon see more 8-inch tablets as brand vendors will focus on this segment to differentiate themselves from the overcrowded 7-inch tablet market:
Digitimes Research has found that the US tablet market is seeing more launches of low-price 7-inch models. Since more 7-inch devices are expected to come out before the end of 2013, the price competition in the segment is expected to grow fiercer. As 7-inch tablets offer little in production differentiation, 8-inch models, which are still small in number on the market, are expected to become a segment that brand vendors will focus on.

For Samsung Electronics, 8-inch tablets form an important segment. Several other brand vendors including Asustek Computer and LG Electronics are also planning to release 8-inch Android-based tablets for the entry-level and high-end markets.
