Later this year Intel will introduce the Xeon E7 "Ivy Bridge-EX" processor lineup. The flagship in this new server CPU series will be the Xeon E7-8890 V2 "Ivytown", a 15-core chip that packs 4.31 billion transistors in a 541mm² die.

The chip has a modular structure, there are three blocks that each contain five cores with their own L3 cache, embedded ring bus and I/O. The Xeon E7-8890 V2 will have 37.5MB L3 cache and a 155W TDP.
Now according to rumors the flagship part could cost well over $5000! This architecture can support 8 sockets so 8 of these chips running together could amount to 120 cores, 240 threads and 300 MB cache shared via QPI v1.1.
