Word is spreading online that Intel has picked September 14 as the launch date for its Core i7 "Haswell-E" HEDT platform.

This new enthusiast platform uses the LGA2011-3 socket and will require a new motherboard because it's incompatible with the current LGA2011 sockets. Haswell-E will be the first consumer platform to support DDR4 and it will include three processors: the six-core Core i7-5820K and i7-4930K; and the eight-core i7-5960X
