Intel also presented its upcoming Skylake processor at the IDF, this platform is expected to be launched before the end of 2015 and promises significant battery life gains for 2-in-1 devices and tablets. Skylake is made on a 14nm process, just like Broadwell, and one of the major changes is that Intel will be abandoning the fully integrated voltage regulator (FIVR) that was introduced with the Haswell platform.
The chip giant promises the Skylake platform will finally be the full realization of "ditching the [power] brick" thanks to significant advancements in wireless charging.
