One of the new things about the Start Menu that will be introduced with Windows 10 next year will be that you'll be able to resize it like any other window. The Start Menu has a responsive design, the resizing automatically rearranges the way the icons are displayed to fit the new size and shape. The way it works is inspired by the web, where responsive websites adjust based on the size of your screen.
Flexibility is certainly a good thing and by making the Start menu customizable, even more so than what was in prior version of Windows, it will likely appease many fans and critics but probably confuse your PC illiterate friends and relations.
