Microsoft files bunch of ridiculous patents

CNET takes a look at some plain ridiculous patents that were recently filed by Microsoft. Bill Gates last year stated the company wants to raise the goal of annual submitted patent applications from 2,000 to 3,000 and it seems they are right on target.

Currently Microsoft has 3,368 patent applications pending and some are really bizarre. One for instance is about software to detect which portions of a baseball broadcast are exciting. Or what about a patent called "System and method for creating a note related to a phone call", or "Adding and removing white space from a document". Microsoft has it all pending.
