Notebook makers to make big push into 12-inch this year

Posted on Tuesday, January 27 2015 @ 13:29:45 CET by

DigiTimes reports we'll see a big surge of 12-inch notebooks this year as manufacturers are shifting attention from 11-inch 2-in-1 devices to 12-inch. As such, the 12-inch segment is expected to enjoy the fastest growth for 2015.
Apple's upcoming MacBook Air is expected to adopt a 12-inch Retina display, looking to create a new product line aside its existing 11- and 13-inch MacBook Airs.

Asustek Computer's recently unveiled Transformer Book T300 Chi also adopts a 12.5-inch display.

With vendors having been increasing their smartphone sizes, many vendors have already shifted their focuses from 11-inch 2-in-1 devices to 12-inch ones to avoid from being impacted.
