Italian tech site Bits and Chips spoke to manufacturers at CeBIT and got to heard that major motherboard makers have all finished the designs of their Z170 ATX and Micro-ATX motherboards.

The only problem preventing a launch is processor availability. The Z170 is designed for the Skylake-S platform, which introduces the LGA1151 socket. The new flagship chipset will reportedly support up to 20 PCI Express Gen 3.0 lanes, a substantial upgrade versus the previous generation.

According to a rumor from yesterday, Skylake may arrive around October so these boards will still be quite a few months away from us.
