Rumors hit the web that the launch of NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 980 Ti is imminent. Samples have reportedly reached reviewers and there are whispers that the card may be launched sooner than expected.

VideoCardz speculates the card may be launched as soon as May 28th, which is the launch day of the new SHIELD TV console, while other rumors point to a Computex launch in early June. Based on leaked performance figures from an unnamed source, the site claims the performance difference between the GTX 980 Ti and the Titan X will be minimal.

TechPowerUp on the other hand came across leaked specifications at Korean tech site HWBattle. If this leak is accurate, the GTX 980 Ti has a GM200-310 GPU with 2816 CUDA cores, which implies NVIDIA disabled 2 of the 24 SMMs (streaming multiprocessor Maxwell) on the GM200 to create the GTX 980 Ti.

Rumored specifications of the GeForce GTX 980 Ti:
  • ASIC: GM200-310, 28 nm
  • 2,816 CUDA cores
  • 176 TMUs
  • Unknown ROP count
  • 384-bit GDDR5 memory interface
  • 6 GB standard memory amount
