NVIDIA Mech Ti demo shows DX12 smoke and shadows

Posted on Wednesday, June 10 2015 @ 18:10:17 CEST by

NVIDIA showed off a DirectX 12 tech demo at last week's Computex show. The Mech Ti demo is primarily a tech showcase, don't expect any earth-shattering graphics but it gives a good example of the new smoke and shadow rendering options of DirectX 12.
Ray-traced shadows are on display courtesy of DX12's conservative raster mode. We also see "sparse smoke," an interactive particle effect that appears to take advantage of DX12's volume tiled resources capability.
