Oculus VR officially introduced the final design of its Rift headset and said it would be available in the first quarter of 2016 - but the pricing is still a mystery. The Rift uses two AMOLED displays with low persistence, the combined resolution is 2160 x 1200 pixels so you get 1080 x 1200 pixels per eye.
The headset is tracked by a IR LED constellation tracking system for low-latency, 360-degree orientation and position tracking. Rift comes with an integrated audio system but these headphones can be removed in case you want to use your own. A microphone is integrated as well.
Also shown off was the base station that goes with the headset, as well as the control systems. Most games will work with the Xbox One controller but the firm is also working on the Oculus Touch, a pair of tracked controllers that promise higher immersion into VR worlds. Full details at Oculus.
