AMD finally has a new WHQL driver release for its graphics cards. In the recent past, these driver releases were a monthly thing but this time it took the company 211 days to release a new WHQL-certified Catalyst driver! There have been some beta drivers between these releases but these too have become much less frequent than before.

The new Catalyst 15.7 WHQL release is Windows 10 and DirectX 12 ready, it fully supports the new Radeon Rx 300 series as well as the R9 Fury video cards. Besides a bunch of new features, this release finally delivers the long-awaited FreeSync support for CrossFire systems. You can download the driver via this page.

The driver delivers expanded support for Virtual Super Resolution (VSR), it now works on a wider range of AMD's graphics cards as well as certain APUs. AMD is also doing a wider rollout of Frame Rate Target Control (FRTC), the Catalyst 15.15 beta release enabled this setting on the Radeon Rx 300 series cards and now you can also use it on certain Rx 200 series and HD 7000 series graphics cards. FRTC allows the user to set a maximum frame rate when playing an application in full screen exclusive mode to enable reduced power consumption, lower heat and less noise.

Catalyst 15.7 WHQL also has a bunch of bug fixes, new CrossFire profiles and enhanced performance in Far Cry 4 and Tomb Raider.
