writes notebook makers are increasingly concerned over costs and are turning towards Chinese diplay panel makers to shave some dollars of the production cost of a laptop. The site notes China-based Tianma Optoelectronics is expected to become the main LCD panel supplier for ASUS' new line of laptops, and suggests price wars in the LCD panel market may intensify into 2016.
The panel maker supplies Asustek with panels used in smartphones and has now been chosen for notebook panel supply due to its low pricing. Notebook vendors such as Asustek, Microsoft and Sony continue to be concerned over costs and are further considering China panel makers.
Tianma also continues to receive tablet panel orders from Sony for the vendor's large-size tablet lineup and expects orders to remain steady into 2016.
