AMD rolls out its Radeon R9 380X. Its Antigua XT GPU is based on the Tonga design and features 2048 stream processors, 128 TMUs, 32 ROPs and a 256-bit memory bus with 4GB GDDR5 memory. The R9 380X has a 190W TDP and features a core clockspeed of 970MHz and 5700MHz memory.

The biggest surprise perhaps is the pricing, it's $229 and not $249 as was rumored. Various AMD add-in board partners will be offering the card, with factory overclockers as well as customized designs.

Early reviews reveal that the R9 380X is a bit faster than the GeForce GTX 960 4GB, which is slightly cheaper and more power efficient.
