Asustek reorganizes its system business group

DigiTimes delivers word about an internal reorganization at Asustek that splits the System Business Group into two new business unit; the Personal Computing Business Unit and the Mobile Computing Business Unit.

The former will be responsible for desktop PCs and laptops, it will consist of two divisions and two R&D centers, whereas the latter will focus on smartphones and tablets and will feature two divisions, two software R&D centers and a supply chain management center.

The site also mentions that Asustek's Open Platform business will now no longer handle desktop PCs, it will solely be responsible for upstream and non-PC product categories like motherboards, graphics cards and LCD displays.
