3D printer sales soared nearly 70 percent in 2015

3D printers are still a relatively small niche market but adoption is picking up rapidly. A report by Wohlers Associates claims a total of 278,385 desktop 3D printers were sold last year, an increase of 69.75 percent versus the year before.
Wohlers suggests that sales are skyrocketing as prices are coming down but the capabilities of the machines on offer are improving. "Many of them produce decent models for early concept modelling of new designs," noted company president Terry Wohlers.
