A month ago Intel announced it would cut 12,000 jobs, or about 11 percent of its global workforce, to streamline the firm's operations to tackle future challenges.

Now FUD Zilla managed to score a bit more information from industry insiders. The site claims the PC unit will be hit hardest by the layoffs, this is a segment that isn't growing anymore and Intel wants to dedicate more resources to the rapidly growing Internet of Things segment:
The PC group downsize is being supervised by Dr. Venkata “Murthy” Renduchintala who is Intel's number two. He is the bloke who was paid $25 million dollars to defect from Qualcomm. Murthy has already done a high level clean up at PC client group and is believed to be thinking about dusting the top of the corporate bookshelf next.
Additionally, FUD Zilla also heard whispers about big cuts at Intel's software services and the security division (previously known as McAfee).
