SemiAccurate's keen eyes noticed that AMD revealed an interesting photo at its May 12th shareholder meeting. Tucked away in a slide talking about the Zen core is a picture that could very well be our first look at a Summit Ridge wafer! This is the upcoming FX series Zen-based processor that is expected to be released towards the end of the year.
Hans de Vries of Chip Architect analyzed the photo and turned it into a block diagram. The eight-core Summit Ridge chip seems to consist of two modules and each module has its own DDR4 memory interface. The analysis suggests each module features four Zen cores with 512KB L2 cache and a shared, central L3 cache of 8MB.
From this we can deduce that the quad-core Raven Ridge will likely consist of a derivative with just one module activated. The photo also seems to confirm that Summit Ridge has an integrated southbridge, just like AMD promised.
AMD seems to have published a die shot of the Zen-based Summit Ridge CPU
