Based on some new shipping manifests, VideoCardz speculates there could be two upcoming GP106-based GeForce GTX 1060 video cards from NVIDIA. One with 4GB GDDR5 memory and another one with 6GB GDDR5 memory. The manifest also reveals the card may have a 192-bit memory bus.
The decision to launch two Pascal GP104 boards with 8GB of memory generates a serious problem. The mid-range segment needs more memory, otherwise a large gap would appear in GeForce product portfolio. Since Polaris 10 is not even aiming at the same market, NVIDIA needs a competitive product with more than 4GB memory in 200-300 USD price range. It’s hard to say how fast GP106 could be, but if RX 480 is anywhere close to GP106 in terms of performance, then 4GB memory would definitely not look convincing to consumers. This means GeForce GTX 1060 needs 8GB or 6GB memory. The latest shipment manifests we found could confirm just that.
