PCI-SIG presented the OCuLink, a standardized cable for external PCI Express devices as well as storage devices. Touted as a small and low-cost cable, OCuLink will be developed in copper and optical cables, with a bit rate starting at 8GT/s, offering up to 32Gbps in each direction within a four-lane configuration.

The cable is designed to standardize external graphics card solutions, as well as a replacement for the SATA Express and SAS cables that are used for U.2 storage devices.
