PC memory shortage looms after November

Memory makers are reportedly shifting production from PC memory to memory for smartphones, a move that could result in memory component shortages after November. DigiTimes reports smartphone makers aggressively placed short-term orders for Q4 2016 and that Samsung increased orders for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, in effort to wipe away the big clusterfuck known as the Galaxy Note 7:
Because of the recall of its Galaxy Note 7, Samsung Electronics has been increasing its orders for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, hoping to minimize the impact in its shipment performance, while Apple has also increased its smartphone orders for the fourth quarter, hoping to snatch some market share from the Korea-based vendor.
The end result is there may be a PC memory shortage after November, unless memory makers increase capacity or smartphone clients reduce their orders.
