Tomorrow AMD will be hosting its New Horizon event, which will likely provide a sneak peek at both the Vega GPU and the Zen CPU. WCCF Tech just scored one of the first photos of a 16-core, 32-threaded "Naples" Zen processor in a server enclosure. It's definitely a large chip, its size is much bigger than the consumer versions. The first Zen server CPUs are expected to land in Q2 2017, head over to the site for some extra photos of the chip.
This particular sixteen core chip is only one of several variants, the highest end of which comes in a 32 core, 64 thread configuration. Which is the largest core and thread count in x86 CPU history. Easily outnumbering the 24 cores of Intel’s largest server processor to date, the E7-8890 v4.
