We have now entered the quiet before the storm, just a couple more days to go until there's a big rush of tech news from CES 2017 in Las Vegas. To shorten the wait, AMD is banging the drums with a countdown to an event that will reveal details about the architecture of the new Vega GPU.

This event will be hosted at January 5, 2017 at 9:00 AM EST.

If you watch the opening of the video closely, you'll see that AMD is poking fun at NVIDIA with a "Poor Volta" sticker and a disclaimer that issues like warning lights, unpredictable engine performance, pulsating light, etc can develop if the voltage fails to deliver. The 'somnum" in Somnum Industries is Latin for "sleep", and left of this name is a logo that loosely resembles a sleepy version of the NVIDIA eye logo.
