Chinese tech site XFastest got its hands on a sample of the AMD Ryzen 7 1700X processor and published a couple of closeups. As you may know, this is an eight-core, sixteen-threaded chip with a 3.4GHz baseclock, 3.8GHz Boost and XFR. Pricing is expected to be around $390.
The original content no longer seems available but VideoCardz has a copy of the benchmark results, which were captured on a system with 16GB dual-channel DDR4-2133 memory.
In the 3DMark Fire Strike Physics test, the CPU scores 17,916 with an average framerate of 56.88FPS. Next there's CPUmark that gives the Ryzen 7 1700X a score of 583 and last there's the CineBench R15 test which reveals a score of 1537.
The 3DMark Fire Strike places the performance of Ryzen 7 1700X roughly between the Intel Core i7 6850K and Intel Core i7 6900K. The site also points out that the Intel Core i7 6800K (4GHz) scores 1259 points in CineBench, while the Core i7 5960X scores 1318 in Cinebench.
With the limited benchmarks available it's hard to draw conclusions but everything we've seen so far points to Ryzen being competitive with Intel's high-end lineup. Hopefully a couple of gaming benchmarks leak soon. The official launch is expected next week so hold on tight for a Ryzen avalanche.
