While the overall PC market continues to struggle, some pockets of the market are seeing strong growth. For the past couple of years, gaming hardware has been a major sales driver and DigiTimes writes today that sales of gaming laptops are expected to soar over 20 percent this year.

A total of more than 4 million units are expected to ship this year, with MSI and ASUS being the top players in this market. The report also indicates the demand for gaming laptops will increase thanks to price cuts as well as the adoption of VR.
MSI, which released over 50 gaming notebooks in 2016, is expected to see shipments of its gaming notebooks increase by 20% on year in 2017, the sources estimated. MSI shipped about 800,000-850,000 gaming notebooks in 2016, Digitimes reported earlier.
