Microsoft proudly announced Windows 10 is now running on 500 million active devices. It took the company 21 months to achieve this milestone and it comes about 7 months after hitting the 400 million mark. Keep in mind that these figures are about more than PCs, they also include the Xbox and the few Windows Phone devices that are still in use.
Windows 10 adoption has been much faster than previous releases of Windows but it's not going as fast as Microsoft expected. When the company launched Windows 10, the goal was to get it on 1 billion devices in "two to three years". Clearly, that was too ambitious and the software giant backpedaled on that goal.
