A week ago there was an article from Tom's Hardware that discussed what's going on with the custom Radeon RX Vega series video cards. The article revealed that various issues prevent AMD's AIB partners from releasing custom cards. Most partners say the launch date of their custom cards is unknown and some are even planning to skip Vega entirely.

Now there's an update about Gigabyte's custom Radeon RX Vega plans. It turns out Gigabyte is not interested in creating a custom version of the Radeon RX Vega 64. Gigabyte does not rule out a custom Radeon RX Vega 56 card, but there are no firm plans at the moment. It's clear that if it gets greenlighted, it won't hit the market anytime soon.

Tom's Hardware did not receive a straight answer from their source at Gigabyte but it seems issues with the Vega packages make the card hard to mass produce. Furthermore, Gigabyte is also afraid it will get high RMA rates due to demand from the cryptocurrency mining market.

Another company that's not interested in making custom Vega cards is MSI. ASUS is the only one that has shown a custom STRIX Vega 64, but its competitors believe this card was a PR stunt with questionable value.

Gigabyte and MSI are reportedly focusing their efforts on the upcoming GeForce GTX 1070 Ti video card. Rumors about this card popped up earlier this month and it seems we can expect a launch before the end of October.
