Samsung makes its entry into the high-end virtual reality market with the introduction of the Odyssey. The device is intended for the Windows Mixed Reality platform but has very impressive specifications. Samsung equipped its mixed reality headset with two 1440 x 1600 pixel OLED screens, which beats the 1080 x 1200 pixel resolution of the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. The Odyssey's OLED panels have a refresh rate of up to 90Hz and have a field of view of 110-degrees.
An integrated headset designed by AKG promises to deliver 360-degrees surround sound and Samsung also created its own motion controllers.
Samsung's Odyssey headset starts shipping on November 6, 2017 for $499.
