Earlier this year, Google introduced the AIY Voice Kit and now the technology giant follows up with the launch of AIY Vision Kit. This is a DIY kit for enthusiasts who want to play with computer vision, the main component is the VisionBonnet board, which features the Intel Movidius MA2450 vision processing unit.

The Google AIY Vision Kit will be sold for $44.99. To create a functioning device, users need to add a Raspberry Pi Zero W, a Raspberry Pi Camera, an SD card and a power supply.

You can use this kit for machine learning jobs, Google gives a couple of examples but the possibilities are endless:
  • Identify all kinds of plant and animal species
  • See when your dog is at the back door
  • See when your car left the driveway
  • See that your guests are delighted by your holiday decorations
  • See when your little brother comes into your room (sound the alarm!)
  • Full details at Google.
