Chinese tech enthusiasts spotted an engineering sample of the Core i7-8720HQ. This is the upcoming flagship laptop processor from Intel, products with this chip are expected in Q1 2018.

TechPowerUp reports the chip features six cores, twelve threads, a 2.4GHz base clock, and 3.6GHz Turbo.

Interestingly this sample has just 9MB of its 12MB L3 cache activated. In terms of multi-threaded performance, the Core i7-8720HQ rivals the desktop-based Core i5-8600K.
