As was reported yesterday, the Microsoft Windows patches for Meltdown and Spectre seem to be causing issues on some AMD-based PCs. We don't know why this happens but there are a lot of complaints on Microsoft's support forums from users who can no longer boot their PC after the installation of the patches for these CPU vulnerabilities.

The Verge writes Microsoft is now halting the rollout of this patch to AMD-based PCs. The software giant claims there's an issue with some AMD chipsets, they note AMD provided wrong documentation:
“Microsoft has reports of customers with some AMD devices getting into an unbootable state after installing recent Windows operating system security updates,” says a Microsoft spokesperson. “After investigating, Microsoft has determined that some AMD chipsets do not conform to the documentation previously provided to Microsoft to develop the Windows operating system mitigations to protect against the chipset vulnerabilities known as Spectre and Meltdown.”
Meltdown only affects Intel CPUs but AMD chips are vulnerable to Spectre.
