ASUS and MSI grab 50 percent of gaming laptop market

It's pretty stunning to see how huge ASUS and MSI are in the gaming laptop market. Not that long ago, both brands were pretty small players in the laptop market but these days both firms account for roughly half of all worldwide volume in the gaming notebook market! Combined, the two firms shipped an estimated 2.4-2.5 million gaming laptops in 2017.

DigiTimes writes the market is seeing more competition, but that price cuts from HP and Dell have mainly harmed sales of second-tier players in this market segment, like Lenovo and Gigabyte.
In 2017, overall notebook demand remained in decline with the exceptions of enterprise and mid-range to high-end gaming models. HP and Dell launched a series of price cuts on their gaming devices priced between US$899-1,099 during 2017, looking to snatch some shares from the top-2 players in regions including Europe, North America, Asia Pacific and Southeast Asia. In the entry-level segment, China-based Lenovo and Haier were also aggressively releasing inexpensive gaming models.
