Tomorrow we can expect the launch of NVIDIA's RTX technology. Claimed to be the result of a decade of development in algorithms and GPUs, RTX promises to deliver highly optimized real-time ray tracing technology on Volta GPUs.

NVIDIA partnered with Microsoft to enable DirectX Raytracing API on RTX, and the company is rolling out Ray Tracing for GameWorks. Support will be provided by major game engines like Unreal Engine, Unity, and Frostbite. Furthermore, there's developer support from EA Games, Remedy and 4A Games.
Together with RTX, NVIDIA is also announcing Ray Tracing for Gameworks, which enables real-time Area Shadows, Glossy Reflections and Ambient Occlusion in game development. This technology is already available in early access.
