It's not really a surprise as we already
wrote about this over half a year ago but the
ARK entry of Intel's Core i3-8121U confirms this chip supports AVX-512. The 8121U is the first 10nm Cannon Lake processor from Intel, it's currently shipping in China in a
low-end laptop from Lenovo.
As TechPowerUp
points out, AVX-512 can offer double the performance/Watt versus AVX2.
At the moment, the practical implications for consumers are pretty low as there's no software that takes advantages of this feature. So far, the only chips that support this are server chips and Skylake-X HEDT series.
